A Simple Yet Delectable Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

A Simple Yet Delectable Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

I hope everyone had a wonderful and productive week. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m so happy that the weekend is finally here. It’s been a busy week and I cannot wait to relax.  In my last post I shared a delicious and easy cinnamon roll recipe. If you missed it, you can read about it here.  In the South we love our sweet treats, but we also love a good savory dish as well. Jennifer and I love teriyaki chicken, so in this post I’m going to share a delectable and savory recipe for it.  It’s not only easy, but it’s so good it will have you going back for seconds and maybe even thirds.

I usually serve my teriyaki chicken over white rice, but if you want a healthier option you can substitute brown rice or quinoa.  Keep reading for the recipe, and the delectable finished product.

Ingredients

Before we can get started we always have to make sure,  that we have our complete list of ingredients.

-1 Tablespoon  of Vegetable Oil

-1/4 cup low-sodium of Soy Sauce

-1/4 cup Teriyaki Sauce (add more as needed for flavor)

 -3 tablespoons light brown sugar

-1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar, you can also White Vinegar

-1 tablespoon Sesame Oil

-1/2 cup of  a shallot/green onion stem, sliced for garnish and cooking

-2 cups of  broccoli florets, I prefer my broccoli raw, because I like the crunch.   However, please feel free to steam it and add it to your dish.

-1 teaspoon cornstarch  or flour  mixed with 2 teaspoons water

The type of chicken that you use is very, very important. Although you can use chicken breasts, thighs are the best option because they are juicer and more savory.

My thighs have been cleaned, and the skin has been removed.  You will need to cut  your thighs into chunks.

You will need to pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, in a large pan over medium heat. Once your oil is warm enough you will begin to place your chunks of chicken into the oil.

Be sure to occasionally stir your chicken until it’s lightly brown and crisp. As my  chicken is browning, I began to add my 1/2  of my green onions.

In a small bowl or measuring cup, you will begin to mix your ingredients. Begin with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch or flour mixed with 2 teaspoons  water for thickening. Then add  1/4 cup of  low-sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup of Teriyaki sauce, 3 tablespoons of light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider vinegar or white vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of Sesame oil. *If it’s too bitter, you can add a little more brown sugar.*

Once you’ve  poured in your ingredients, allow your chicken to simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. *If you notice your sauce is too thick, you can add a little water.*

As I stated earlier, I like to serve my Teriyaki chicken over white rice, but you can substitute brown rice or quinoa and your dish will be just as delicious. The remaining green onions can be used as garnish over your chicken.  As a side dish you can add broccoli or mixed vegetables.  I hope you enjoyed this post, this is the perfect meal because it’s quick, delectable, and will quickly become a favorite for you and your loved ones. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments section.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Wow, this is amazing. This is probably one of the best Teriyaki chicken recipes I’ve seen. I think most of them come out dry and bland.
