A few years ago, I tried to get family and friends together for a Christmas Party. I rented a building downtown, and I just asked that the adults pay $20 dollars to cover the cost of food, alcohol, and the cost of the building for the evening. However, three months in and there was so much drama. There were only a few that wanted to pay the $20 dollars, but the money was nothing compared to what they would have gotten out of the event.
Well to make a long story short, the Christmas Party was cancelled, and I lost my $250 dollar deposit. The few who really wanted to attend the Christmas Party were disappointed. So I decided to have a Christmas party at my house, Southern Style. All I asked of my guests is that they bring themselves, have a good time, and they did.
This is now the third year and I am so excited. The invitations have been sent via; Facebook, email, and text. I try to keep my guest list at about 35-40 people because I do live in a neighborhood. I try to be mindful of my neighbors and parking. Which is why I wanted to rent the building, it would’ve held about 200 people. Needless, to say I had to cut my guest list down a bit.
Since the party is in my home, I can keep it easily contained and everything runs like clockwork. I have a rather large family, so I try to invite different family members every year. There is no drama and we have a really good time. It’s such a wonderful time because I get to enjoy my family and friends. There is free flowing alcohol, great food, outstanding music, and nonstop laughter. This year I think we will have a dance off. I have a few moves I haven’t used in a while…lol!
I have made my menu and now I am counting down the days. I will be sure to keep y’all posted on all of our Christmas Party Shenanigans.
Happy Holidays! I hope y’all enjoyed this post!
Remember ya’ll not everyone in the South eats fried chicken, but if you fry it just right. We won’t turn it down!
