Hey Y’all!
So, this morning I decided that I wanted to make French toast, because I haven’t had it in a while. French Toast is one of those meals that isn’t just for breakfast you can literally eat it at anytime of the day. It’s just an amazingly easy recipe. I have found that you can eat it anytime, because most of the time you have everything you already need in your refrigerator; eggs, bread, milk, butter, syrup, and powdered sugar. It’s truly a meal of convenience because all the ingredients are staples that every Southern person should have in their kitchen.
Another great thing about French toast, is that if you’re an egg lover you can make it as eggy as you like. Personally, I like to make mine with just the right amount of eggs. In my French Toast recipe, I use two eggs and a cup of whole milk, and that will make about eight pieces of French toast. I also like to use regular bread that I have around the house. In this case I am using a honey wholewheat bread, because this is the bread that I typically buy. However, if you would like to use a thicker bread such as brioche, this recipe works for it as well.
I like for my French toast to be a little crispy and thin, that way I can eat a lot more…lol! I absolutely love French toast with fresh fruit and my favorite go to fruit is fresh strawberries. You can also add blueberries, bananas, and sometimes I add all three, it’s really up to you. So let’s get started with this amazingly easy and delicious French toast Recipe that you and your family will love!
List of Ingredients:
As always before we can begin, we’re going to need a list of ingredients for our French toast.
-1 Cup of Milk
-1 Teaspoon of Sugar
-1/4 Teaspoon of Vanilla Flavoring
-2 Large Eggs
-1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
-Honey wholewheat bread, but you can use whatever bread you choose
-Powdered Sugar(optional)
-Strawberries(optional)
-Syrup
-1 Tablespoon of Butter (for your pan or griddle; add as needed)
Preparing your French Toast Mixture
First, you’re going to add 1 cup of milk into a bowl. Or in my case a clear casserole dish, because it will be easier to dip your bread into the mixture.
.
Next, add in two large eggs to your milk.
After you’ve added in your milk, and eggs, you will add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Lastly, you will add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring.
Then, you will whisk all your ingredients together.
After you’ve finished whisking, this is what your mixture will look like.
How to Cook the French Toast
Now that you’ve created your French Toast mixture it’s time to actually cook your French toast. As I mentioned earlier, I’m using honey wholewheat bread, but you can pretty much use any bread of your choice.
Always remember to butter your pan or griddle whichever you prefer to use.
Now, I’m going to dip my bread into my mix.
Remember, do not allow your bread to soak into the mixture for long. You do not want your bread to become soggy.
This is the fun part, I’m going to place my bread four slices at a time on my griddle.
You will cook your bread for about three-five minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired crispness.
Once my French toast is finished I place it on my cutting board, and cut it in halves.
Adding Toppings to your French Toast
After I cook my French toast, I put it on a plate and began to add my fresh strawberries, powdered sugar, and syrup.
Here is my bowl fresh of strawberries, that have been washed and cut in halves.
This part is totally optionally, you can add powdered sugar to your delicious French toast.
An Amazingly Easy French Toast Recipe
After you’ve have topped your French toast with strawberries and powdered sugar, the only thing missing is your syrup and fork.
