In this post, I’m sharing the most mouthwatering pulled pork recipe you’ll ever see, make, and taste. In general Southerners are known for their barbecue skills, I mean people travel to our great Southern states to find the best barbecue recipes. We take it very seriously, and barbecue pulled pork is one of the best recipes you’ll ever eat.

Pulled Pork can be made in a crockpot, grill, or in the oven. In this recipe, I’m choosing to make my pulled pork in the oven and I’m using mustard based barbecue sauce.  I’m a huge fan of mustard based, but I’ve also had tomato based sauce either one is fine. The type of sauce that is used is solely based on your own personal preference.

Since it’s Labor Day, I’ve decided to prepare a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, with homemade fries, corn on the cob, and pickles. My mouth is watering at just the sheer thought of enjoying all of this amazing food, so let’s get started. Keep reading for this step-by-step recipe and the delicious  Labor Day meal.

List of Ingredients for Pulled Pork

-Whole Pork Shoulder/Boston Butt

-12 oz Bottle of Honey

-Store Bought Mustard Based Barbecue Sauce

-Salt

-Black Pepper

-3 or 4 Large Potatoes

-Vegetable Oil

What’s the best cut of meat for Pulled Pork?

What's the best cut of meat to use for a pulled pork recipe. I like to use whole  Pork shoulder or a Boston butt, which is not actually  a “butt” it’s just a part of the pork shoulder.  Whole pork shoulders tend to be a favorite for pulled pork recipes, because it makes the meat more flavorful and succulent.

This is really the easiest part of the pulled pork recipe, you just season your meat with salt and black pepper. Then you will wrap it with foil, and place in the oven at 325 degrees. This pork shoulder was about nine and a half pounds, so it cooked for about five to six hours.

Your pork shoulder has been cooking for about 5-6 hours and the meat is incredibly succulent at this point. The meat is so tender that you can pull it apart with a fork.

How to create a barbecue sauce for a pulled pork recipe

After you’ve pulled your meat apart, put it in a separate dish. In a small bowl or measuring cup you can create your barbecue sauce. You will need mustard based barbecue sauce and honey. Mustard based is extremely tangy, so you may  need to use an entire 12oz bottle of honey.

Once you’ve poured in your sauce, you can begin to mix into your pulled pork.

It’s time to Cook  the Homemade Fries

Now that you have finished with your pulled pork recipe, you can  prepare your homemade fries. The first thing you need to do is wash your three or four potatoes.  After you’ve washed your potatoes, you will place them on a cutting board.

After you’ve peeled, and cut your potatoes, place them in a separate bowl, and prepare to deep fry them. You will wait for your oil to heat up and then you will fry them.
