Chocolate cake is by far one of the best desserts on the planet! I have never met anyone that didn’t enjoy a big hunk or chocolate cake, with a tall glass of cold milk. What’s better than a regular chocolate cake you ask??? How about a three layer decadent chocolate cake! My mouth is watering at just the thought of eating I hope y’all had an amazing Christmas, my Christmas Party was an absolute success. All of my guests had a wonderful time, and that truly made me happy. Since it’s still the holiday season, I decided to share a homemade decadent three layer chocolate cake recipe with y’all. I made it as one of my desserts for my Christmas Party and everyone loved it. It was so moist, delicious, and utterly sinful. Keep reading for the recipe and the beautiful finished product.
Before we can begin baking anything of course we’re going to need a list of ingredients for our cake.
-Butter and Flour, which will be used to coat and dust your cake pans
-3 Cups of All-Purpose Flour
-3 Cups of Granulated Sugar
-1 1/2 Cups of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
-1 Tablespoon of Baking Soda
– 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
– 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Salt
– 4 Eggs
-1 1/2 Cups of Buttermilk
– 1 1/2 Cups of Warm Water
-1/2 Cup of Vegetable Oil
-2 Teaspoons of Vanilla Extract
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Then you will need to butter your 9-inch cake pans, dust them with flour and tap out the excess.
Next, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Then using your mixer to combine ingredients on low speed.
Then, add your 4 eggs 1 1/2 cup of buttermilk, 1 1/2 cups of warm cups, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix your ingredients together, until batter is smooth. Once finished be sure to collect any excess cake mix from the side of your bowl.
Begin to pour your cake batter into your cake pans. Place your batter into your oven for about 30-35 minutes or until your toothpick comes out clean. After you remove your finished cakes, allow them to cool before you begin to ice your layers.
Begin to ice your first cake layer.
After you ice your first layer of cake, stack your second layer of cake.
Continue to ice and stack your cake until you’re finished.
Once your cake is finished you can add a garnish, I always like to add pecans to my chocolate cake. Grab a knife, a fork, a plate, and enjoy your decadent three layer chocolate cake.
