Ingredients for Homemade Pizza Sauce

  • 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1 6oz can of tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of suagr

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 or 2 2/12 cups of all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 packet of instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • dried basil leaves (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3/4 cup of warm water

Homemade Pizza Sauce

  • The first step, is to combine our 1 can of tomato paste and 1 can of tomato sauce  into a bowl.
  • Next,  you will begin to stir these ingredients until there are no lumps.
  • Then, you will begin to mix in the other ingredients; add in 2 tablespoons of oregano, 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 tablespoon of garlic salt, 1/2 tsp of freshly ground pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. 
  • Continue to stir until all ingredients are blended together within the sauce. Once you’re finished set your sauce aside and begin to make your pizza dough.

Homemade Pizza Dough

  • The first thing you  will need to do is combine 1 cup of all-purpose or bread flour, 1 packet of instant yeast,  and 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt into a large mixing bowl.
  • Then add  dried basil leaves (optional), 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 3/4 cup of warm water and begin to stir with a wooden spoon.
  • Next, you gradually add in another cup of flour and also add any additional flour as needed (1/2 cup maybe). Continue to stir until the dough pulls away from the bowl.
  • The dough will be slightly sticky, now begin to add olive oil to another bowl, and grease the sides.
  • Dust your hands with flour and transfer dough to greased bowl, make sure that the dough is coated with olive oil. 
  • Allow for dough to set for 30 minutes so that it can double in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
  • After you’ve let your dough set for 30 minutes, you will begin to kneed it.
  • Then you will flour your surface and begin to roll the dough out, using a rolling pin.
  • Spread olive oil  onto your pizza pan, and begin to place the dough on it.
  • Then, brush your rolled out pizza dough with olive oil. 
  • Then use a fork to poke holes all over the center of your pizza, to prevent the dough from bubbling up.

Making the Pizza

  • For the pizza toppings I’ve included olive oil, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and spinach. I chose to use mozzarella cheese, because it’s light and creamy in texture.
  • Since I’ve chosen my toppings, I can begin to spread my homemade sauce onto my dough. You will keep spreading the sauce until the dough is completely covered.
  • After you’ve spread your sauce, you will sprinkle your pizza with mozzarella cheese.
  • Then you will place the toppings of your choice, mine are pepperoni and spinach on your pizza.
  • After you’ve added the toppings, then you add more mozzarella cheese.
  • Once you’ve finished you will place your pizza in the oven on 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes. 
  • You can either wait for your pizza to cool to cut it. Or if you like your pizza hot like me, you’ll cut it fresh out of the oven.
