Happy Wednesday Y’all!
If you know me then you know that I love anything and all things chocolate. If you don’t believe me check out my recipe for a triple layer chocolate cake, which can be found here. Chocolate brown is also my favorite color, so there you go. I really wanted some brownies, and I was thinking about the last time I made them completely from scratch. I baked a large batch of brownies for Ernest’s class when he was in school. At the time he was attending college to become a school teacher and they were a big hit. So I have decided to take that recipe, update it, and make it even better.
Personally, I love a chewy cake brownie because it’s the best of both worlds. The delicious bite of a moist cake and the chewy, goodness of the chocolate. You can never go wrong when you bake with Hershey’s cocoa powder. It’s just so rich and truly enhances the taste of anything it’s added to. I usually like to add walnuts in my brownies, but some people just prefer the delicious brownie.
In this post, I’m going to share my updated chocolate brownie recipe. What I really love about a good brownie is that it’s easy and the perfect treat. Let’s get started, so we can enjoy these amazing, chocolatey brownies. As always, I’ve included a list of ingredients we’re going to need for our homemade brownies.
List of Ingredients for Brownies
-1 cup of vegetable oil
-4 eggs
-1 cup of sugar
-1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
-1 cup of flour
-2/3 cup of Hershey’s cocoa powder
Mixing Together our Wet Ingredients
First, we’re going to get started with the wet ingredients for our chewy brownies from scratch. Add 1 cup of vegetable oil, four eggs, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
Continue to stir all these ingredients together in the bowl.
Mixing Together the Dry Ingredients
Now that we have mixed our wet ingredients, we need to mix together in our dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, add 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of flour, and 2/3 cup of Hershey’s cocoa powder.
Combining all the Brownie Ingredients
As you began to combine your wet and dry ingredients together, you can use a hand whisk or a mixer.
Continue to mix your ingredients until there are virtually no lumps.
Then, you will take a spatula and scrape around the bowl, for the excess brownie mix. Be sure to preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Baking the Homemade Brownies
I used a 9×11 inch pan for my brownies and instead of greasing the pan. I chose to use parchment paper.
Began to pour your brownie mixture, into your pan.
Then, you will began to spread your mixture evenly into your pan. After you have finished you will place your brownies into the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until your toothpick comes out clean.
After your brownies are done, you will remove them from the oven and allow to them. cool.
Chocolate Topping for the Brownies
I’m choosing to include a chocolate topping on top of my brownies. You can use chocolate icing however, I have decided to use 1 cup of chocolate chip morsels.
I simply melted the chocolate chip morsels in the microwave.
After my brownies have cooled and I have put my chocolate topping on them. Then, I began to cut my brownies into squares.
Chewy and Chocolatey Brownies
Now that these delicious brownies are finally finished, feel free to enjoy them with a nice glass of cold milk…YUM!
