Happy Monday Everyone!
In this post, it’s all about Pretzels, Pretzels, Pretzels! I cannot even express to y’all how much, I love a hot, buttery, and salty pretzel. They remind me of the care-free days of summer; dipping them in homemade cheese sauce, marinara sauce, or mustard. I was little apprehensive at first y’all, but when I pulled them out of the oven. I knew that we were in for a special salty treat and our day was complete…Hungry Southerners lol!
I think the next time, I make these pretzels I will add some brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins with some homemade glaze…so exciting! I hope y’all try this recipe and enjoy it as much as we did. This is my special helper Grace, she enjoys baking.
So let’s get started with the easiest recipe for homemade pretzels that you will ever find.
Before we can get started baking, as always we need a list of ingredients.
Ingredients for Homemade Pretzels
-1 Cup of Warm Water
-2 1/4 Teaspoons of Active Yeast (1 standard packet)
-1 Tablespoon of melted Unsalted butter
-4 1/2 Cups of Flour
-1 Teaspoon of Sugar
-1 Teaspoon of Salt
-Coarse Sea Salt for Sprinkling on Pretzels
How to Active the Yeast For Homemade Pretzels
First, I’m going to combine 1 cup of warm water, 1 packet of Active Yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Once you’ve combined those three ingredients, you will want to stir them all together with a spoon.
Next, pour the mixture into your mixing bowl and wait for it to become frothy. You will want it to appear frothy, because you want the sugar to activate your yeast, so you know it’s good.
After you’ve determined that your yeast is activated, add your 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter.
The Recipe for Homemade Soft Pretzels
You will begin to mix your salt and melted unsalted butter into the mixer. Then, you will add 1 cup of All-Purpose flour at a time, while your mixer is on low.
You will mix the dough on low speed for about 5-10 minutes. You will know when your dough is finished because it will no longer be sticky.
Lightly, flour your countertop and roll your dough into a bowl.
Now, I’m going add about a tablespoon of Olive Oil into a bowl.
I’m adding Olive Oil, in order to grease the bottom of the bowl for the dough to rise.
Now place your dough into the greased bowl on a warm surface for about 30-60 minutes or until it doubles in size.
Once your dough has doubled in size, you will be ready to form your pretzels.
How to Form Your Homemade Soft Pretzels
After, your dough has doubled, you will lightly flour your countertop one again. You can cut your dough into sections or you can simply cut the dough as you need it to build your pretzels. Personally, I think you should choose whichever method you find easiest for you.
The Easiest Recipe for Homemade Soft Pretzels
Once you begin to form your pretzels, you will place them on a lightly greased pan, that’s covered with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
Then you will butter and sprinkle coarse sea salt over your pretzels. Place them in the oven to cook for about 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Now that your pretzels are finished you can choose a dipping sauce of your choice! I hope you enjoyed this quick, easy, and savory pretzel recipe
